The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) represents the interests of more than 35,000 physicians of Indian heritage in the United States. It is the largest ethnic medical organization in the country.
AAPI is an umbrella organization which has over 100 local chapters, specialty societies and alumni organizations. For the past 25 years, Indian physicians have made significant contributions to health care in this country, practicing in inner cities, rural areas and peripheral communities. The impact of our community is proven by the fact that almost 10%-12% of freshman medical students are of Indian origin.
The Queens and Long Island Chapter of AAPI is one of the most active associations in the Tri-State area and represents over 1500 physicians in New York. We organize one or more monthly medical and/or financial seminars and an annual Gala Event. We conduct local health fairs and plan to expand several outreach programs to show our strong commitment to the community and to our members.
We urge you to join us, donate some of your valuable time by becoming a life member, and do some volunteer work with our organization.
As a society with large membership force, we can have a strong voice in any organizational activity.
